I bond with every animal I own regardless of their purpose in my life, and that goes even more so for animals whose purpose is to feed me. I'm not like most people who might become so attached that slaughter will be an issue. If anything I am happier this way because I know without a doubt that my poultry had the best possible life from the day they were born until they come to my plate. The method of choice at the time was using 5 gallon buckets and I have to say that in my experience they work better than the commercially available Topsy Turvy product.
